Grant Program Details and Eligibility

Under the program, a total of 120 million PLN will be distributed to qualifying public secondary schools. Each selected institution may receive between 300,000 and 800,000 PLN depending on the scope of proposed upgrades. Eligible expenses include digital measurement tools, safety equipment, laboratory furniture, and basic research instruments. Schools must submit detailed project proposals by the end of September, outlining current laboratory conditions and expected educational outcomes. Priority will be given to facilities in rural areas and those serving economically disadvantaged communities. The ministry expects to fund approximately 180 schools in the first round of awards, with disbursement beginning in early 2025. Officials emphasize that all funded projects must comply with national safety standards and incorporate sustainable practices such as energy-efficient lighting and waste-reduction protocols.

Impact on Classroom Laboratory Education

Education experts note that many secondary school laboratories still rely on equipment installed more than two decades ago, limiting students' exposure to contemporary scientific methods. Modernized labs are expected to improve student engagement and performance in national examinations while better preparing graduates for university-level STEM programs. Teachers will receive optional training sessions on integrating new tools into existing curricula. The ministry plans to monitor progress through annual reports and site visits, measuring indicators such as increased laboratory hours per student and participation in science competitions. Long-term goals include raising Poland's ranking in international science assessments and fostering greater interest in technical careers. School administrators have welcomed the announcement, describing it as a necessary investment in practical education that aligns with European Union recommendations on STEM learning environments.
